Job Overview

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber, Inc. (FTCH) is in search of a dedicated Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager to join our team in one of our Ohio offices, including Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, or Toledo. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and mentor fellow FTCH staff, engage in stimulating projects, and advance their career within our organization in Ohio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage plan production for transportation initiatives for ODOT and local agencies utilizing MicroStation/ORD or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
  • Engage with clients, including ODOT, local agencies, consulting firms, and contractors.
  • Formulate project budgets and timelines.
  • Create technical letters of interest and fee proposals.
  • Exhibit both theoretical and practical knowledge in civil engineering and specialized software.
  • Collaborate closely with internal technical staff at FTCH and industry peers to deliver transportation design and consulting engineering services, primarily for ODOT and local municipalities.
Physical Requirements

Occasional light lifting, sitting, and walking are required. Duties will be performed in the field, necessitating access to and navigation around project sites, as well as computer usage. Travel to and from project locations is essential. Proficiency in using communication and documentation equipment is required, along with visual acuity to fulfill responsibilities.

Educational Background

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • PE license is mandatory.
  • Over 10 years of experience in roadway engineering roles, particularly with ODOT or Local Agency projects.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation/IORD software is essential.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and other design modeling software is advantageous.
  • Experience in storm sewer drainage design, pavement markings, signing plans, erosion control, and traffic maintenance plans is required.
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS, HY8, StormCAD, and other drainage software is a plus.
  • Experience in roundabout design is beneficial.
  • Leadership experience in managing design teams or mentoring junior engineers is a plus.
  • Strong computer and communication skills are essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ODOT Cincinnati and Design Manual and Standard Specifications.
