Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Perfusion Technician to join our team at Dartmouth Health. As a Perfusion Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the Perfusionist during cardiac surgery procedures, ensuring the smooth operation of the heart-lung machine and other equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Perfusionist with the assembly and operation of the heart-lung machine, ensuring proper setup and maintenance.
  • Prepare and manage supply carts for procedures, including fluids, medications, and other essential items.
  • Set up, operate, document, and takedown of Cell Saver machines, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
  • Perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis as needed and serve as a lab runner.
  • Assist with equipment issues during procedures, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal disruption.
  • Prepare the IABP console and assist with ECMO operations.
  • Perform weekly Quality Assurance/Control on the heparin monitoring system.
  • Order supplies and medications, and stock carts, ensuring timely restocking and minimal downtime.
  • Assist with written and electronic documentation, as well as Quality Assurance/Control.
  • Periodically outdate and re-order disposable supplies, ensuring optimal inventory levels.
  • Assist in quarterly cleaning and disinfection of heater/coolers under FDA regulations.
  • Maintain main OR cell saver machines and perfusion pumps, including PM coordination with Biomed, outdating supplies, and other tasks.
  • Work with the Perfusionist to provide quarterly in-services to Perioperative Services Technician cell saver operation.
  • Clean all Perfusion space and equipment, ensuring a safe and clean environment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma
  • 1 year of healthcare experience preferred
  • Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and coordinate work in a high-stress environment, responding to emergency situations and tight schedules
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Required Licensure/Certifications
  • BLS Certification within four (4) weeks of hire date
  • Credentialing as a Cell Saver operator required within 3 months
  • Currently registered in the state of New Hampshire as a Medical Technician
