Join Our Team as a Head Baker at Call Your Mother

We're seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Baker to lead our bakery team at Call Your Mother. As a key member of our operations team, you'll be responsible for overseeing all aspects of bagel and pastry production, ensuring high-quality products, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and participate in all aspects of bagel and pastry production, including preparation, baking, and finishing.
  • Manage the daily operations of the bakery team, including training, and supervising bakers to maximize productivity and maintain high standards.
  • Develop and refine recipes to maintain product quality and consistency, while also exploring opportunities for new products and seasonal offerings.
  • Ensure proper mixing, proofing, baking, and finishing techniques are used to achieve optimal product results.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with the purchasing team to ensure all necessary ingredients and supplies are stocked and available.
  • Implement and maintain food safety and sanitation procedures, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Commissary and Shops Operations teams to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of production orders for all CYM locations.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on baked goods to ensure they meet CYM's standards for taste, texture, and appearance.
  • Manage equipment maintenance and troubleshoot any issues to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, providing guidance, support, and feedback to team members to promote their professional growth.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial baking environment, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in bagel and pastry production, with a strong understanding of baking techniques and processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple production lines and meet deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing and developing a team of bakers.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed to ensure production schedules are met.
  • Passion for baking and a dedication to producing high-quality products.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
