Job Objective: Support the classroom instructor in educational delivery and classroom management. Assist students with disabilities under the guidance of special education and general education teachers, as well as school administrators.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Facilitate activities to meet the objectives outlined in students' Individual Educational Plans.
  2. Aid students in instructional tasks, curriculum adjustments, and adaptations in collaboration with the classroom and/or special education teacher.
  3. Assist in monitoring student progress through data collection.
  4. Engage in specialized programs, such as Autism, Emotional Disturbance, or Alternative Learning.
  5. Provide individual or small group support, transitioning between general and specialized education settings.
  6. Utilize technology and adaptive equipment to enhance student learning.
  7. Supervise students in various group settings, guided by the classroom and/or special education teacher.
  8. Aid in implementing accommodations and modifications.
  9. Support students in developing self-regulation skills.
  10. Assist educators in managing classroom behavior and executing positive behavior support strategies.
  11. Collaborate with the classroom teacher to maintain an environment conducive to learning.
  12. Provide additional support to students as directed by supervisors.
  13. Ensure safe loading and unloading of students from transportation services.
  14. Participate in professional development opportunities, including specialized training and behavioral management techniques.
  15. Foster a student-centered, safe, and supportive learning environment through effective communication and relationship-building.
  16. Uphold a high standard of ethical conduct.
  17. Carry out any other responsibilities as assigned by the district supervisor.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The role necessitates frequent sitting, walking, and standing. Occasional lifting of up to sixty (60) pounds is required, along with the ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl. Effective hearing and vision are essential for clear communication. The position may involve exposure to varying temperatures and conditions that present some risk of injury or illness.

Performance Evaluation: Job performance will be assessed by the Supervising Teacher and Building Administrator.
