Position Overview

The Business Systems Analyst serves as a crucial link between various university functions, including education, research, and administration, and the Business Enterprise Systems and Technologies (BEST) team. This role is essential in facilitating the achievement of business objectives across the institution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with business stakeholders to support and enhance moderately complex business processes, ensuring alignment between technology solutions and strategic goals.
  • Establish and nurture collaborative relationships with business partners and IT teams to deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Conduct thorough data analysis to comprehend business strategy requirements.
  • Utilize a structured requirements process to assess client needs and prioritize business objectives. Investigate and resolve client and user issues, identifying technical requirements and proposing solutions.
  • Draft, articulate, and communicate business requirements and functional specifications for implementing business solutions.
  • Assist in documenting existing business processes and contribute to business case development.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews of modules, adhering to established standards and procedures.
  • Create user test cases, validate testing outcomes, and execute test scenarios.
  • Address and troubleshoot client and user issues, escalating when necessary.
  • Identify errors or deficiencies in existing information systems and devise appropriate solutions.
  • Carry out routine application maintenance tasks.
  • Support the analysis of client satisfaction data, ensuring IT solutions align with client needs.
  • Document changes to new or modified modules and track testing activities and results.

Educational Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or a related discipline is required.

Alternatively, six (6) years of relevant work experience or specialized training may substitute for the educational requirement.

Experience Requirements

A minimum of two (2) years of relevant technical or business experience is necessary.

Work Environment

Office setting with no unusual physical or environmental demands.
