Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team at Wellstar Health System, Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nuclear medicine and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in providing safe and age-appropriate care to patients by performing all exams provided by the department per department protocols.
  • Perform a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative in the utilization of equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases.
  • Set up equipment to provide imaging services and position patients for procedures.
  • Verify proper clinician orders for procedures and obtain complete clinical histories, gather examination data, and assess for contraindicating conditions.
  • Follow established procedures for the administration of radiopharmaceuticals to ensure patient safety and quality diagnostic studies.
  • Review images for clinically acceptable results and release patients.
  • Respond to emergency situations and provide for the restocking of crash carts and maintenance of life support equipment.
  • Assist other technologists in all modalities when needed.
  • Observe patient conditions and properly evaluate situations when physician intervention is necessary.
  • Verify correct patient identity using 2 unique identifiers prior to performing procedures.
  • Ensure patient privacy and comfort are accommodated and maintain patient dignity throughout exams/procedures.
  • Organize schedules, time, and priorities to ensure required activities are accomplished within designated time frames.
  • Follow physician instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
  • Use critical thinking skills and dialog with patients/families.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
  • Complete mandatory departmental and Hospitalwide education without prompting.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved AMA Nuclear Medicine Program.
  • ARRT Nuclear Technology or Cert Nuclear Med Tech certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a clinical setting caring for patients or minimum 1 year NM experience.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to function independently and under pressure while participating in a team environment.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize appropriately and multitask effectively.
Working Conditions

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent verbal and written communications with physicians, patients, visitors, departmental staff, and nursing staff.
