Job Summary:
The Certified Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients experiencing respiratory complications. This professional works collaboratively with a team of healthcare providers to ensure the delivery of high-quality respiratory care from diagnosis through therapeutic interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Administer prescribed aerosol medications and perform chest physiotherapy and related treatments as per physician directives or established protocols.
2. Conduct patient rounds to provide necessary care and monitor patient progress.
3. Evaluate patient conditions through laboratory and radiological results, vital signs, and other assessments to determine appropriate care plans.
4. Review therapy orders for accuracy and effectiveness, suggesting modifications based on evidence-based practices.
5. Maintain comprehensive patient records, ensuring all documentation aligns with departmental policies, including assessments, care plans, and educational efforts.
Qualifications:
Mandatory:
- Valid New Jersey Respiratory License
- BLS Certification
- CRT or RRT Certification within one year of employment
Preferred:
- 2-3 years of relevant experience
- ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications are highly desirable.
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in administering oxygen therapy, BiPAP, CPAP, and High Flow Nasal Cannulas across various patient demographics (neonates, infants, pediatrics, and adults).
- Knowledgeable in both invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation techniques, ensuring operational verification and troubleshooting as needed.
- Committed to adhering to departmental, infection control, and safety standards while demonstrating an understanding of national patient safety goals.
