Job Description

Role Overview

As a member of the faculty at Strive Collegiate Academy, the English Language Learner Teacher will play a critical role in supporting students who require intensive academic support and remediation. The ELL Instructor will implement and support the instructional program, with specific responsibility for teaching small groups, planning lessons, and providing data management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and provide instruction in English that meets state and federal standards
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans that utilize a broad range of appropriate teaching techniques and strategies
  • Administer academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating student progress for meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition
  • Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies
  • Adapt curriculum to provide individual, small group, and/or remedial instruction as to meet the needs of individual students and subgroups of students

Additional Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the Response to Intervention program, including progress monitoring student growth
  • Coordinate with the Director of Academics to choose appropriate curriculum and interventions, as well as ensure staff is appropriately trained
  • Identify appropriate accommodations and accessibility features for students qualifying for supports through Exceptional Education, EL or RTI status

  • Strong instructional skills and ability to adapt curriculum to meet the needs of individual students
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
