About this Role

We are seeking a skilled Embedded Software Test Engineer to join our team at Loft Orbital. As a key member of our Flight Product group, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust, reliable test pipeline for embedded software.

You will work closely with our engineering, software, and integration teams to verify the performance of internal avionics firmware and improve continuous integration efforts. Your expertise in software and firmware test development and automation will be crucial in ensuring the successful delivery of final flight products to missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain test procedures and execution of product testing using Loft's in-house software tools
  • Work with the Loft development team to test, validate, and verify internally developed products
  • Execute roadmaps of next-generation products and provide testing flows, including activities to prepare for full-level product development
  • Support scaling up test infrastructure towards productization

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in software/firmware testing and SW/HW integration, with a plus if in aerospace
  • Bachelor's Degree in software engineering, computer science, or equivalent
  • Recent Python experience automating tasks/test frameworks and interacting with shell environments
  • Strong familiarity with Linux and scripting tools/languages
  • Hands-on experience with deploying embedded software to hardware at medium to large scales (>100 units/year)
  • Experience creating detailed Test Procedures for development and software
  • Entrepreneurial, able to find and manage own work
  • Experience with one or more continuous integration tools (Gitlab Preferred)

Nice to Have:

  • Experience testing high-speed interfaces like Ethernet, Spacewire, Cameralink
  • Understanding of how to create, configure, and manage Docker containers
  • Recent experience setting up Gitlab CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with Vivado or other FPGA design/build systems and their test tools
  • Experience with Yocto Ptest or testing and deploying Yocto distributions
  • Comfortable interacting with remote test equipment and troubleshooting issues

Salary Range: $108,000 - $190,000 per year, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
