Job Description and Duties

The Department of Fish and Wildlife is seeking a highly skilled Senior Accounting Officer to join our team. As a key member of our accounting team, you will play a critical role in supporting the mission of our department.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and supervise subordinate accounting staff in the processing of payments using CalATERS Global and Financial Information for California (FI$Cal).
  • Utilize financial software to ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting Administrator I (Supervisor) to develop and implement accounting policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff on financial matters, including budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding financial reporting and accounting practices.
Working Conditions:

This position is located in our new high-rise building in downtown Sacramento, which offers a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants. The building features ergonomic furniture, panoramic views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria, and adjacent childcare.
