Health Information Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health Information Management (HIM) Processor to join our team at Chapters Health System. As a HIM Processor, you will play a critical role in assembling, analyzing, and maintaining medical records according to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure medical records are complete before closing discharged patient records.
- Obtain physician signatures for certification and orders in a timely manner.
- Report any incomplete recertifications three days prior to the end of the Benefit Period.
- Follow HIM policies and procedures as set by the Director of HIM & Coding.
- Exhibit positive behaviors toward the HIM team to ensure timely work completion.
- Scan and index paper documents according to a predetermined file layout while maintaining a satisfactory level of accuracy.
- Request prior medical records from hospitals and physicians as indicated on the Nursing History and Physical and Team Daily Report.
- File/scan medical record documentation in a timely manner, ensuring patient name and number correlate to the chart.
- Monitor the return of all documentation until the chart is complete and escalate any chart deficiencies that have not been resolved.
- Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- High School or GED
- Up to one (1) year of office experience, preferably in a medical setting
- Health Information Management Certificate or HIT PRO Certificate preferred
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Ability to navigate EHR easily
- Knowledge of medical record format and content
- Detail-oriented
