Job Title: Registered Nurse - Hospice Care Specialist

Job Summary:

The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) will provide and arrange for Hospice care for patients/families in a collaborative relationship with other members of the interdisciplinary team. The Admission Nurse makes initial nursing assessments, judgments, and treatment decisions based on patient/family needs and wishes in accordance with professional skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise LPNs, CNAs, Unit Secretaries, and Volunteers
  • Make initial nursing assessments, judgments, and treatment decisions
  • Provide and arrange for Hospice care for patients/families
  • Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team
Requirements:
  • At least two years of public health/community health, med surg, or related nursing experience
  • Experience in home care, hospice, and/or oncology nursing preferred
  • Diploma or Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • BSN preferred
  • Licensure from the governing body for practice for the District of Columbia, State of Maryland, and/or the Commonwealth of Virginia

  • Superlative oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to organize and manage projects within defined timeframe and budget
  • Work both independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Organizational skills with ability to delegate and follow up
  • Manage multiple tasks and stressful situations with a positive attitude
Work Environment:

Works in a business office with computers, printers, copy/fax machines, and telephones. The noise level in the work environment is usually light to moderate.
