Deputy Sheriff

King William County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Deputy Sheriff to join our team. As a Deputy Sheriff, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the community, and upholding the principles of justice.

• Patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect crime, and to enforce laws and regulations.
• Respond to emergency calls, provide assistance, and render aid as needed.
• Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses.
• Enforce traffic laws, issue citations, and conduct traffic stops.
• Provide support to other law enforcement agencies and participate in joint operations.
• Participate in community policing initiatives, build relationships with the public, and promote trust and cooperation.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Sheriff or other supervisory personnel.

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
• Valid Virginia driver's license required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and a U.S. citizen.
• Must pass a background investigation, physical fitness test, and psychological evaluation.
• Must be willing to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
