Position Overview

The Cost Estimator/Project Coordinator role is integral to the successful execution of electrical projects from initiation to completion. This position encompasses estimating, securing, and overseeing projects, ensuring they meet financial and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities while fostering strong client relationships.
  • Analyze proposal specifications and drawings to define the scope of work and necessary estimate components.
  • Generate precise estimates by conducting a thorough takeoff of project scope and inputting data into the estimating software; verify the accuracy of outputs.
  • Solicit and evaluate quotes from suppliers for necessary materials and equipment.
  • Engage with qualified suppliers to obtain comprehensive quotes, ensuring alignment with project plans and specifications.
  • Detail and quantify all ancillary items required for bid packages, including subcontractor work, equipment rentals, and supplies.
  • During project turnover, clearly communicate the estimate, project scope, and supplier quotes to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required documentation for clients.
  • Draft letters outlining inclusions, exclusions, and clarifications related to estimates.
  • Maintain organized records of working documents to support estimate figures.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in the construction sector is necessary.
  • A combination of education, training, and relevant experience will be considered.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient understanding of construction technology, scheduling, and methodologies.
  • Strong arithmetic skills necessary for estimating tasks.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Capability to identify and fulfill client needs and expectations.
  • Problem-solving skills to navigate diverse variables in various situations.
  • Effective conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and teamwork skills.
  • Understanding of and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Professional demeanor and appearance in all interactions.
