Job Summary

As a Part-Time Lifeguard with the City of Conroe, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons in the pool(s) and surrounding environments. This position requires a high level of responsibility, attention to detail, and excellent customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a first responder in emergency situations, providing prompt and effective assistance to those in need.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all members, participants, and guests, ensuring a positive and welcoming experience.
  • Enforce all City and Center policies and procedures, maintaining a safe and secure environment.
  • Participate in regular in-service training sessions to stay up-to-date on the latest safety protocols and procedures.
  • Conduct various pool maintenance duties, including testing water chemistry and checking mechanical system operation.
  • Complete all required records and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
Qualifications
  • Minimum age of 15.
  • Pursuing a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current American Red Cross Certifications in Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of and up-to-date certifications in lifeguarding and CPR.
  • Excellent communication and public relation skills.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, climb, sit, and swim for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 75 pounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership and teamwork.
Physical Demands

The work requires medium physical effort, with the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, talking, and walking.

Requirements
  • Pass a background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening.
  • May be required to pass a motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam.
  • Must be willing to undergo random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
