Stress Engineering Manager

The Structures Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Stress Engineering Manager to join our team in Bothell, WA.
Job SummaryAs a Stress Engineering Manager, you will provide leadership for our Stress Engineering group within the Engineering Department, supporting ongoing and future programs. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality in accordance with program requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage a team of Stress Engineers to substantiate aircraft designs and generate substantiation documents acceptable to the FAA.
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate staff, making recommendations for promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action.
- Conduct 1:1 discussions, annual performance reviews, and mid-year reviews, making salary adjustments as needed.
- Set quality standards for the engineering department and ensure processes are established and standards are met for the Stress Engineering discipline.
- Coach, train, and mentor Stress Engineers to work efficiently and effectively.
- Develop analytical tools, databases, and workflow procedures to streamline and optimize project support.
- Manage multiple priorities and competing tasks, making decisions on task priority and team member assignment.
- Work closely with other departments to gain consensus on addressing engineering issues requiring Stress Team input.
- Communicate clearly with the engineering team, other departments, and vendors to facilitate smooth substantiation of designs.
- Prepare meeting materials and present status of program's structural substantiation to keep all parties informed of progress.
- Create structural substantiation plans, prepare staffing plans, anticipate critical path issues, and set schedules to meet program schedules and budgets.
- Assist with bids and estimations of costs for new programs.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering.
- Minimum 8 years of industry experience, with a minimum of 4 years' experience successfully leading a team of engineers.
- Aerospace interiors background required.
- Ability to motivate, coach, and manage a team, including conducting annual performance reviews.
- Strong written and verbal communication and effective presentation skills.
- Knowledge of aircraft interiors and drawing development, installation, and FAA requirements.
- Working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 Regulations and industry-accepted Finite Element Program, NASTRAN.
- Working knowledge of classical hand analysis of aircraft structural components and assemblies.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
