Key Responsibilities:

Huntress seeks a Director to spearhead our rapidly expanding Security Operations Center (SOC) team. This role is crucial for defining and refining processes, workflows, and playbooks that facilitate effective daily operations. As we scale, our focus is on amplifying our human analysts' capabilities significantly. This position is accountable for ensuring the SOC meets our mission and achieves internal Service Level Objectives for response times and quality standards. Ultimately, our aim is to enhance partner security and avert the most challenging situations they may face.

The Huntress Security Operations Center comprises a global team of security analysts committed to investigating and responding to incidents on our partners' networks around the clock, every day of the year. Daily responsibilities include providing investigation, containment, and response actions across millions of endpoints.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of Global SOC Managers, offering guidance and support.
  • Formulate, implement, and execute the strategy and vision for the 24/7 SOC, ensuring alignment with customer needs and proactive adaptation to the evolving threat landscape.
  • Oversee the investigation and resolution of security incidents on our partners' networks.
  • Refine processes, workflows, and playbooks to enhance SOC efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure continuous operations by managing and enforcing local/global shift coverage.
  • Collaborate with various departments, including Product, Sales, and Marketing, to align the SOC with overarching business objectives.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess SOC success.
  • Stay informed about the latest security threats and trends, implementing new technologies and processes to enhance detection and response capabilities.
  • Engage in industry events and conferences to share expertise and foster relationships with fellow security professionals.
  • Promote awareness internally and externally regarding developments in the Huntress 24/7 SOC.
  • Act as an escalation point for customer issues and interactions.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in leading cybersecurity teams with diverse expertise in areas such as Security Operations, Digital Forensics, Incident Response, Malware Analysis, Threat Hunting, or Detection Engineering.
  • Over 10 years of SOC experience in a global 24/7 Security Operations Center, with a focus on Windows forensics.
  • At least 4 years of managerial experience in a global Operations Center or Incident Response role.
  • Active engagement in the information security community through conference attendance or contributions to public discussions/projects.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest threat actor tactics, detection techniques, and security operations concepts.
  • Ability to identify workflows and create detailed process diagrams and operating procedures.
  • Effective communication of complex technical concepts to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated experience leading initiatives or projects requiring delegation and accountability for success.
  • Data-driven mindset with experience in Data Science and Business Intelligence concepts.
  • Familiarity with Time-Series analysis concepts applicable to Operations Center metrics and forecasting.
  • In-depth knowledge of security incident response, threat hunting, and best practices in security operations.
  • Experience in developing and implementing SOC strategies and processes.
  • Strong understanding of security technologies, including SIEM, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop a long-term vision for the SOC.
  • A passion for security and a commitment to staying informed about the latest threats and trends.
  • Proficient in forecasting and assessing capacity needs to support annual budgeting and planning.
