Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a visible security presence throughout the hospital and campus, including patrolling designated areas and responding to emergency codes.
  • Enforce parking regulations and perform scheduled locks/unlocks of areas within the hospital.
  • Inspect fire extinguishers and respond to emergency pages.
  • Perform escorts for employees and visitors, and assist with vehicle jump-starts.
  • Investigate and prepare clear, concise, and thorough incident reports.
  • Apply four-point restraints with qualified staff to control combative patients when necessary.
  • Oversee patient observations in the Emergency Department, as needed.
  • Report any unsafe situations or equipment according to hospital procedure.
  • Demonstrate competency in monitoring security systems, including access control, security cameras, and fire alarm systems.
  • Identify and respond to facility security issues, and work to mitigate associated risks.
  • Act calmly and authoritatively in emergency situations, and utilize emergency equipment as needed.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a security-related field preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license required.
  • Basic technical reporting and computer skills required.
  • Ability to work as a team and interact with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in law enforcement, fire, safety, or security.
  • Ability to assist emergency response and medical personnel, as needed.
Training and Development

Munson Healthcare offers comprehensive training and development opportunities to ensure our Security Officers have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their roles. This includes:

  • Munson Medical Center Human Resource Safety Training.
  • Comprehensive Security orientation.
  • Hospital orientation.
  • CPR and AED certification.
  • CPI training.
  • North Flight Safety training.
  • Hazardous materials and spill response training.
Working Conditions

The Security Officer position requires standing and patrolling for a minimum of 8 hours per shift. Security personnel are regularly required to ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs as part of their routine patrol, and move departmental equipment such as barricades and fire extinguishers from one location to another.

Reporting Structure

The Security Officer reports to the Director of Safety and Security, and receives daily functional supervision from a Shift Lead or Security Supervisor.
