Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician I to join our team at Sonora Quest Laboratories. This is a full-time evening position that requires a strong background in laboratory operations and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform waived and non-waived tests in an accurate and timely manner, adhering to established policies and procedures.
  • Assist with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect, receive, and process biological specimens into the laboratory, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity.
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
  • Recognize and ensure validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing, ensuring accuracy of test results.
  • Participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures, promoting and consistently meeting department standards for productivity and quality.
  • Ensure the appropriate use of supplies and materials, assisting with inventory management and recognizing opportunities for improvements in financial performance.
  • Communicate courteously, professionally, effectively, and accurately with internal and external customers, participating in the resolution of communication issues.
Requirements
  • Meet one of the following criteria to qualify: Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility).
  • Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR.
  • Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF or other nationally recognized credentialing agency for review to determine eligibility and translated diploma.
  • Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy in departments where applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
  • Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
  • Additional related education and/or experience.
