We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician I to join our team at Sonora Quest Laboratories. This is a full-time evening position that requires a strong background in laboratory operations and a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Perform waived and non-waived tests in an accurate and timely manner, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Assist with department compliance with all pertinent laboratory accrediting agencies and regulatory requirements.
- Collect, receive, and process biological specimens into the laboratory, ensuring correct patient and specimen identification and specimen integrity.
- Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
- Recognize and ensure validity of abnormal patient and/or QC results for testing, ensuring accuracy of test results.
- Participate in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures, promoting and consistently meeting department standards for productivity and quality.
- Ensure the appropriate use of supplies and materials, assisting with inventory management and recognizing opportunities for improvements in financial performance.
- Communicate courteously, professionally, effectively, and accurately with internal and external customers, participating in the resolution of communication issues.
- Meet one of the following criteria to qualify: Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution, or Bachelor's degree in chemical or biological science (transcripts will be reviewed to determine eligibility).
- Equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting the requirements defined in the CLIA regulation 42CFR.
- Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF or other nationally recognized credentialing agency for review to determine eligibility and translated diploma.
- Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy in departments where applicable.
- MLT certification (ASCP, AMT, HEW, AAB).
- Basic knowledge of specimen requirements and knowledge of medical terminology.
- Previous experience with phlebotomy and processing.
- Additional related education and/or experience.
