Bariatric Surgery Translational Research Lab Faculty Position

Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized clinical and academic institution, invites applications for the position of Bariatric Surgery Translational Research Lab Faculty. The Research Scientist will design, initiate, perform, and oversee a scientific research program, preparing reports and papers based on research results. This position is responsible for and permitted to only participate in research activities, without providing patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, initiate, perform, and oversee a research program utilizing animal models of bariatric surgery.
- Collect, evaluate, interpret, and provide documentation of research data to accomplish research objectives.
- Prepare manuscripts and research papers for presentation and/or publication.
- Ensure compliance with governmental and University policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- MD or PhD in a relevant field.
- Experience in live animal surgery and animal models of disease.
- Previous publication record as demonstrated by publication either as lead or contributing author.
- Strong analytical thinking with the ability to troubleshoot and evaluate data.
- Demonstrates strong research methodology with the ability to synthesize literature.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Self-motivated, team-oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills.
