We are currently seeking a motivated Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Southeast Region in Maitland, FL.

The ideal candidate will develop strong working relationships with clients and staff, maintain a high level of project standards, and exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads the team with various design assignments for the Department of Transportation and local municipalities
  • Oversees the performance of engineering deliverables associated with Drainage and roadway infrastructure improvements
  • Leads junior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation and drainage related projects
  • Oversees the design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirements
  • Understands applicable policies, methods, practices, and procedures
  • Oversees the design and Quality Control of roadway and drainage deliverables to various transportation departments and municipalities
  • Helps lead junior staff supporting the growth and performance of the organization
  • Representing Volkert with clients and stakeholders, as well as industry and market environments
  • Manage and leverage group's resources and capabilities to meet company and individual goals and objectives
  • Retain, supervise, and mentor staff as Senior Drainage Engineer Lead for Southeast Region
  • Represent Volkert at conferences and other client-focused or industry-focused events and making presentations in areas of individual expertise when applicable
  • Prepare and present project presentations, studies, and reports
  • Assist in developing project staffing plans and work forecasting
  • Provide team leadership, project management and mentoring of junior-level staff
  • Other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering (Master's in water resources fields a plus)
  • Valid Professional Engineering Licensure (P.E.) in Florida preferred or the ability to acquire it within 6 months
  • Eight (8) to Fifteen (15) years of relative/progressive drainage/water resources experience
  • Experience with MicroStation, Geopak, Civil3D, Storm CAD, ORD, ICPR, HEC-RAS, GIS and/or SUDA software
  • Previous FDOT Drainage design experience and strong knowledge of FDOT standards
  • Previous experience with permitting from Florida DEP and Water Management Districts
