Job Title: Senior Drainage Engineer

Volkert Inc is seeking a highly skilled Senior Drainage Engineer to join our Southeast Region in Maitland, FL.

Job Summary

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to develop strong working relationships with clients and staff, maintain high project standards, and exceed client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with various design assignments for the Department of Transportation and local municipalities.
  • Oversee the performance of engineering deliverables associated with Drainage and roadway infrastructure improvements.
  • Work with senior staff to develop plans and calculations for transportation and drainage related projects.
  • Oversee the design of stormwater management facilities to meet water quality and quantity requirements.
  • Understand applicable policies, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Oversee the design and Quality Control of roadway and drainage deliverables to various transportation departments and municipalities.
  • Participate on the Southeast Drainage team supporting the growth and performance of the organization.
  • Represent Volkert with clients and stakeholders, as well as industry and market environments.
  • Manage and leverage group's resources and capabilities to meet company and individual goals and objectives.
  • Retain, supervise, and mentor staff as Senior Drainage Engineer Lead for Southeast Region.
  • Represent Volkert at conferences and other client-focused or industry-focused events and make presentations in areas of individual expertise when applicable.
  • Prepare and present project presentations, studies, and reports.
  • Assist in developing project staffing plans and work forecasting.
  • Provide team leadership, project management, and mentoring of junior-level staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years of drainage engineering experience post registration.
  • Manage staff in their performance in drainage design and production for transportation projects, including calculations and plans preparation.
  • Prior experience as an experienced drainage engineer on civil or transportation projects.
  • Experience and ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in the solution of work problems.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbal and written.
  • PE Required.
  • Florida Licensed Professional Engineer or if registered in another state, the ability to obtain registration in the State of Florida within six months.
  • Experience in design of drainage conveyance systems and plans preparation in compliance with FDOT and other client standards.
  • Experience in Design software such as ICPR, and HEC-RAS.
  • Experience in the following software: Geopak Drainage, Geopak, Inroads, Corridor Modeling, Microstation or other equivalent CAD software.
