Description

We are currently welcoming applications for future opportunities for part-time educators in the fields of physics and astronomy across our three colleges. While there may not be an immediate opening in this area, submitted applications will be retained for consideration throughout the academic year.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the guidance of a dean, a part-time instructor is responsible for delivering comprehensive educational experiences to a diverse student body, aimed at helping them achieve their academic or vocational goals. In accordance with educational regulations, instructors may be engaged for up to 67% of a full-time workload.

KEY DUTIES

1. Deliver academic instruction through lectures, labs, or performance-based courses; evaluate and enhance students' cognitive and communication skills through tailored assignments and activities.

2. Guide and support students in their academic journeys, providing advice on programs of study and connecting them with relevant resources.

3. Assess student performance in relation to course objectives and provide timely feedback through various channels.

4. Organize instructional content in alignment with approved course outlines to optimize student learning outcomes.

5. Maintain accurate records of student progress and course materials; submit necessary reports in a timely manner.

6. Select and evaluate instructional resources, collaborating with faculty as needed.

7. Update course content to reflect advancements in the field.

8. Participate in curriculum development and departmental meetings as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must meet the qualifications set forth by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors, which include:

- A Master's degree in physics, astronomy, or astrophysics
- OR a Bachelor's degree in physics or astronomy along with a Master's degree in engineering, mathematics, meteorology, or geophysics
- OR equivalent qualifications.

All academic credentials must be from accredited institutions.
