The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist performs technical duties under the direction of the Manager, Lead CT Tech and/or Medical Director of Radiology and obtains quality diagnostic examinations while maintaining superior patient care and providing excellent customer service to patients, family, and all hospital staff.
Key Responsibilities- Obtains quality diagnostic images according to protocol
- Exam orders: ensures all orders have the required 5 elements
- RIS: ensures orders are valid and entered appropriately, ensures ordering physician is correct, completes exams with accurate information, documents pertinent information
- Follows all radiation protection and dose reporting policies and processes
- Maintains orderly and safe work area
- Maintains departmental compliance logs
- PACS: Scans in and labels documents appropriately, resolve QA issues in a timely manner, ensure images are released to radiologists in a timely manner
- Participates in departmental accreditation processes and QA
- Ensures venipuncture is performed following all infection control processes and medication is administered to appropriate patients
- Participates in performance improvement processes
- Transports patients as necessary
- Effectively manages problems and resolves conflict in a professional manner
- Adheres to the direct supervision of the Radiology Department Director
- Demonstrates competency in performance of technical skills
- Effectively interjects with discrepancies and/or impaired job performance in order to facilitate improvement and resolution
- Performs other duties as assigned
- At least one year of CT experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferred
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Registered Computerized Tomography Technician
- Registered Radiographer (ARRT)
- State Registered Radiologic Technician
- Associate Degree, or Certificate
