Job Title: NOCC IP Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled NOCC IP Engineer to join our team at NextGen | GTA: A Kelly Telecom Company. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our IP network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Datacenter Operations: Collaborate with various datacenter teams to assist with troubleshooting and performing software upgrades.
  • Network Engineering: Engineer IP networking build projects, working closely with Capacity Planning, Design, and Operations teams to implement strategic technology goals.
  • Implementation: Assist with the deployment of Verizon's eNSE platform, transitioning from VXLAN to the new network platform.
  • Equipment Configuration: Hands-on configuration of routers, switches, and network equipment, specifically Cisco Carrier Routing Systems (CRS), Cisco Network Convergence System (NCS), and others like ASR 9K, ISR 3945, Nexus series, and Juniper MX series.
  • Documentation: Develop detailed Layer 1 equipment installation and fiber testing MOPs, schedule and track testing, and correct failures in collaboration with local market teams.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide remote support to local operation teams for the deployment and troubleshooting of network equipment in Verizon data center locations.
  • Virtualization: Work on the virtualization of networks, implementing updates and changes on operational devices.
  • Network Fabric: Engineer and deploy directional networks for Intelligent Edge, including SAP ENSE Fabric, ISP, NNI, and 5G connectivity.
  • Cloud Networking: Engineer network solutions for onboarding Verizon's private cloud tenants and building networks for interconnection with Verizon Cloud Platforms (VC).
  • Automation: Utilize and improve automated workflows for device configuration and network deployments across multiple virtualized OS environments.
  • Collaboration: Work with various teams to ensure networks are built, tested, and migrated according to KPI targets and company objectives.
  • Mentorship: Mentor new team members, providing guidance on all aspects of the job.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Five or more years of relevant work experience or a Bachelor's degree.
  • Networking: Expertise in IP Layer 1-3 for Edge Networks, TCP/IP (IPv4 and IPv6), spine and leaf fabric networking, VXLAN, GPON, BGP, Palo Alto and MPLS Layer 2/3 VPNs.
  • Hardware Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of Cisco and Nokia equipment, including CRS, NCS, Nexus series, and Nokia 7750/7706/250.
  • Troubleshooting: Extensive experience in Layer 1 troubleshooting, particularly with copper and fiber cabling, and familiarity with CLI commands for both Cisco and Nokia.
  • Documentation: Ability to write detailed technical MOPs and follow engineering design documents.
  • Communication: Strong administrative and communication skills, with the ability to articulate updates via email and participate in team calls across various time zones.
  • Work Ethic: Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and meet aggressive deployment timelines.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications: CCNA, JNCIS, or other relevant networking certifications.
  • Automation Tools: Experience with automation tools like Cisco VTS, Nokia Nuage, Itential IAP, HPNA, and DCNM.
  • Cloud & Scripting: Knowledge or experience with cloud environments, Linux, Openstack, Python, and virtualization.
  • MPLS Expertise: Solid understanding of networking technologies like IPV6, OSPFv3, mp-BGP, QoS/Traffic Engineering, inter-AS MPLS, and m-VPN.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others, manage assigned tasks, and mentor junior team members.
  • Remote Work Experience: Prior experience in a remote work environment, particularly in testing and deploying network equipment.
