Job Title: HVAC Supervisor

Join the City of Petersburg, VA team as an HVAC Supervisor and take on a challenging role that requires strong leadership and technical skills.

About the Role:

The HVAC Supervisor will oversee and supervise maintenance activities for the City's heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) environmental control systems. This role involves working independently, under limited supervision, and reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and supervise HVAC maintenance activities, including prioritizing, scheduling, assigning, monitoring, inspecting, and performing tasks.
  • Provide budgetary information for projects and annual budget preparation.
  • Serve as project manager for HVAC contractual services and assigned projects.
  • Record, track, and report HVAC maintenance activities.
  • Prepare, review, and evaluate bid specifications, contractual documents, and other related documents.
  • Assist in developing and implementing HVAC maintenance policies, practices, procedures, and systems to effectively meet operational goals and objectives.
  • Prepare internal and external communications, reports, and other departmental documentation.
  • Resolve inquiries, problems, and complaints submitted by Federal and State agencies and local officials regarding HVAC compliance issues.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree with major coursework in electrical, HVAC, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Three years of HVAC supervisory experience and BAS/BAC experience required.
  • Valid Virginia Driver's License.
  • Current CFC certification and a Journeyman HVAC certification issued by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Master HVAC certification preferred.
Working Conditions:

This role involves working in a moderately fluid environment with guidelines and rules, but frequent variations from the routine. The HVAC Supervisor will be responsible for the safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.
