Job Summary

Palmer Bus Financial Management, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Safety and Compliance to oversee and implement safety programs and procedures for our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in safety management, transportation industry experience, and excellent leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Create and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conduct Safety Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of vehicles, facilities, and equipment to identify and address potential hazards or safety issues.
  • Investigate and Report Incidents: Investigate and report safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, and implement effective solutions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop and Deliver Safety Training: Develop and deliver safety-related training programs for employees, including driver training, emergency response procedures, and risk assessment.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records of all claims, incidents, safety inspections, job hazard assessments, and training activities.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Industry Best Practices: Stay current with industry best practices and emerging safety trends, and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Promote a Culture of Safety: Collaborate with management and staff to promote a culture of safety and ensure that safety is a top priority throughout the organization.
  • Serve as Primary Point of Contact: Serve as the primary point of contact for safety-related inquiries and concerns from employees and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, transportation management, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a safety management role, preferably in the transportation industry.
  • Knowledge and Skills: In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local safety regulations and standards, strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
