The Assistant Environmental Scientist will play a key role in supporting the development of environmental and siting studies, preparing permitting applications, and analyzing environmental data for various projects across the United States in sectors such as oil and gas, electric transmission, and renewables.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the preparation of technical reports, environmental impact statements, and environmental field studies.
- Provide support in utilizing GIS data for map production in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
- Assist with performing environmental site investigations, supporting erosion control efforts, and subsurface soil sampling.
- Conduct environmental compliance audits and assist in preparing permitting applications, including air, land use, and cultural resources permitting.
- Support site selection studies and preparation of related National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.
- Conduct field surveys, assessments, and collect project-related data for analysis in environmental impact projects.
- Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or a related natural science degree from an accredited program.
- Prior internship or natural science field experience is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to clearly communicate both verbal and written technical information.
- Basic knowledge of environmental site assessment methods.
- Basic knowledge of environmental compliance and compliance audits.
- Basic knowledge of the environmental permitting process.
- Basic knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS desktop environment.
- Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet standards for vehicle driving privileges.
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
- Involvement in campus or community activities.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
