Mohs Technician

Job Summary:

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a highly skilled Mohs Technician to join our team. As a Mohs Technician, you will play a critical role in assisting the physician during Mohs surgery while accurately preparing and processing histologic specimens for microscopic evaluation and review by the Mohs Surgeon.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the physician during Mohs surgery
• Prepare and process histologic specimens for microscopic evaluation
• Collaborate with Dermatopathologists, Surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to contribute to the overall success of Mohs surgeries
• Maintain accurate patient identification on all containers, slides, diagrams, and paperwork at all times
• Label, file, and store Mohs slides
• Maintain and operate laboratory and surgical equipment
• Monitor and maintain inventory of lab supplies and equipment

Requirements:

• High school degree (or GED) required
• Completion of Medical Assistant program through an accredited school or program preferred
• At least 6 months of full-time experience in the past 10 years in Mohs surgery as Mohs Medical Assistant, Mohs Technician, or Histology Technician required
• BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working 40 hours a week. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action as needed.
