The Leonardo Museum is seeking a highly motivated and experienced STEAM Education Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Education department, you will play a vital role in designing and implementing engaging educational programs that inspire creativity and innovation in people of all ages and backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop hands-on and inventive workshop curriculum, floor demonstrations, and programs that align with our museum's mission and values.
- Train and mentor Education Facilitators on curriculum and provide feedback to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Collaborate with community partners to develop and teach summer camp curriculum that promotes STEAM education and creativity.
- Coordinate and lead field trips, ensuring a smooth and engaging student experience, and liaising with teachers and museum staff.
- Assist with curriculum design and implementation of museum educational programs, including teacher professional development, outreach events, and community engagement initiatives.
- Teach science outreach in schools through our Leo on Wheels program, designing and evaluating curriculum, and presenting engaging exhibits to students.
- Cultivate positive relationships with school staff, local communities, and stakeholders to promote our museum's mission and programs.
- Manage data entry and evaluation of program success, providing insights to inform future program development.
- Engage with museum visitors on the floor, assisting with opening and closing procedures, and maintaining education supplies and spaces.
- Design and implement community outreach events with partners, promoting STEAM education and creativity in underserved communities.
- Participate in and facilitate Teacher Professional Development programs, sharing best practices and expertise with educators.
- Bachelor's degree in a STEAM field or equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Experience in K-12 education instruction or administration, program management, or teaching, preferably with Utah's educational system and Common Core standards.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage with diverse groups and manage youth.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting demands and priorities.
- Valid Driver's License, clean driving record, and ability to travel to various parts of Utah, including rural school districts.
- Able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and stand for up to 6 hours at a time.
