Position Overview:

A Financial Specialist for Transplant Services plays a crucial role in evaluating clinical orders and investigating intricate insurance coverage details to formulate financial expectations for prospective Bone Marrow Transplant patients, their donors, and families. Given the complexity and high costs associated with Bone Marrow Transplants, comprehensive financial counseling is essential for patients and families to make informed decisions regarding the transplant process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting thorough verification of insurance benefits, including carve-outs and specialized contracts.
  • Creating detailed financial estimates for Bone Marrow Transplant procedures, accounting for out-of-pocket expenses during the transplant and considering long-term non-hospital costs such as prescription drug coverage.
  • Securing necessary referrals and authorizations for all services related to the treatment process.
  • Maintaining regular communication with clinical teams and patients throughout the entire process.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in data processing, hospital registration, insurance verification, and pre-certification/authorization with a healthcare provider or insurance company is essential.
Certifications:
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification is required within six months of hire; renewal is not necessary.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reviewing patient treatment plans and insurance benefits.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to manage time effectively to meet performance goals.
  • Proficient in computer and software navigation, with a solid understanding of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of providing customer service through various communication channels.
  • Ability to remain composed under pressure while managing tight deadlines and competing priorities.
