Job Overview
As a vital member of the Miami University Equestrian Center, you will engage in a variety of responsibilities to ensure the well-being of our horses and the upkeep of the facility.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct daily cleaning routines for horse stalls, including periodic thorough cleaning and re-bedding.
2. Provide feeding and hydration for horses housed in both barns and pastures.
3. Maintain cleanliness in all areas, including public spaces, tack rooms, offices, and restrooms.
4. Perform physical tasks that involve lifting, walking, bending, carrying, and climbing regularly.
5. Administer medicated feed supplements as directed by the management.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess a strong understanding of various types of hay and grain, as well as the ability to assess their quality and quantity accurately.

Additional Duties:
1. Operate and maintain farm machinery, including dragging arenas and transporting horses.
2. Conduct weekly inspections of the facility.
3. Collaborate with various departments across the campus.
4. Ensure the upkeep of farm vehicles in partnership with the Physical Facilities Department.

Communication Skills:
This position requires interaction with students, parents, alumni, and prospective students, necessitating effective communication and professionalism.

Team Collaboration:
Assist in creating daily work and turnout lists, opening the Equestrian Center, and supporting team efforts in barn management and classes.

Supply Management:
Help prepare supplies for equestrian events, manage orders, and foster relationships with vendors. Maintain accurate records of supply orders, vehicle maintenance, and work requests.

Minimum Requirements:
Prior experience in equine care and familiarity with barn and farm machinery is essential. A valid driver's license is required.

Preferred Experience:
Experience working with reputable professionals in the equine industry, some college education, and strong communication skills are highly valued. A thorough understanding of common products and practices in the horse industry, along with experience operating farm machinery, is preferred.
