About the Role

The District Safety Leader will be responsible for supporting Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives within the Southwest district of Hussmann Services. This individual will serve as a leader in Health and Safety practices and training, making regular visits to all district sites. The successful candidate will report to the EHS Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Coordination: Supervise and coordinate all EHS-related activities within assigned facilities, supporting management in implementing EHS standards and requirements.
  • EHS Inspections and Audits: Conduct and manage EHS inspections and audits in accordance with Hussmann policy.
  • Program Development and Maintenance: Implement and maintain local EHS programs based on company policies and other regulations.
  • Liaison and Communication: Liaise with local authorities, communities, and external bodies regarding EHS issues.
  • EHS Consultation: Provide EHS consultation to all departments within the district.
  • Hazard Recognition and Correction: Recognize acute hazards and recommend or make immediate corrections.
  • Project Support: Assist on multiple projects, including cross-functional teams.
  • EHS Training: Coordinate and conduct EHS-related training.
  • Incident Investigation and Emergency Response: Participate in incident investigation and/or emergency response at district locations.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Manage administrative tasks, including SDS Sheets, data entry, Workers' Compensation, maintain KPIs, and injury and illness record keeping.
  • Data Analysis and Communication: Analyze data and communicate trends in EHS performance.
  • Fleet Management: Manage a fleet of approximately 170 vehicles, including assignment, registration, DOT compliance, etc.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel required (up to 60%), including overnight trips to IA, MO, NE, KS, and SD.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Working Knowledge: Working knowledge of mechanical engineering and commercial refrigeration.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EPA requirements.
  • OSHA Certification: OSHA 30 or similar certification.
  • Valid Driver's License: Valid driver's license.
  • Physical Capability: Physical capability to climb ladders and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • ISO14001 and OHS Management Systems: Knowledge and practice implementing ISO14001 and OHS management systems.
  • Computer Skills: Excellent computer skills in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent years of experience.
  • Years of Experience: 5+ years with degree, 7+ years of experience without a degree.
  • EHS Work Experience: Must have EHS work experience in construction.
