About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Bridge Inspection Team Leader - Structural Engineering to join our team at WSP. As a key member of our Northeast Bridge Inspection Team, you will be responsible for leading bridge inspection projects and ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead bridge inspection projects and ensure the delivery of high-quality results
  • Review previous inspection reports and plan field operations
  • Apply high-level structural and civil engineering techniques and processes to identify improvements for various infrastructure project phases
  • Perform professional inspection work and complete inspection reports
  • Direct other field members and demonstrate high-level self-leadership
  • Prepare and implement site Health and Safety Plans (HASPs) and enforce safe operations in the field
  • Liaison with client field/facility staff and assist with critical condition findings
  • Technical compliance and interaction with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients
  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development
  • Remain current in the latest structural engineering techniques and practices
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in bridge engineering design, construction, inspection, or other bridge engineering-related work for NY metro agencies
  • New York State PE License
  • Knowledge and experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physically capable of performing continuous field work
  • Current FHWA/NHI Bridge Inspection Training and OSHA 10 or 30 Construction Certified
  • Valid, unrestricted driver license
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at coordinating and directing subcontractors and others
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering
  • Experience using the NYSDOT's EAM/BDIS Bridge Inspection Report Documentation software
  • Bridge Load Rating Experience using AASHTO's BrR software
