Job Summary

The Production Supervisor is a key member of the Dana Incorporated team, responsible for overseeing the company's production operations. This role requires a strong leader who can ensure the smooth flow of materials and supplies, maintain functional machines, and adhere to safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement ideas to continuously improve safety, quality, productivity, and housekeeping towards set goals.
  • Union Contract and Plant Policies: Understand and implement union contract and plant policies fairly and consistently.
  • Production Planning: Monitor and adjust production/work assignments based on customer demand and part availability.
  • Counseling and Disciplinary Action: Counsel and take disciplinary action when needed.
  • New Team Member Orientation: Assist in the orientation and training of new team members.
  • Scheduling: Coordinate schedule with production control and other supervisors.
  • Communication: Communicate with Operations Manager, other supervisors, and other disciplines to minimize problems.
  • Performance Evaluation: Evaluate and provide feedback on individual performance.
  • Productivity Monitoring: Monitor daily production reports on downtime, set-up time, productivity, and housekeeping and develop/implement correction actions.
  • Reporting: Document and report necessary productivity reports, attendance, overtime, etc.
  • Quality Assurance: Focus on quality assurance of our product. Participate in NCP review. Address any and all quality issues immediately.
  • 5S Plan: Develop a 5S plan, mentor team leads to raise awareness of 5S requirements, evaluate condition daily, follow-up on condition that is not within standard.
  • Safety: Ensure the safety of all employees by educating employees on accident policies and procedures, reporting all accidents, injuries, and near misses as required. Communicate effectively all information regarding any accident within the department. Address any and all safety issues immediately.
  • DOS Events: Participate in DOS events and be proactive in predicting abnormalities in the area and taking action to correct.
  • Attendance and Overtime Policies: Execute attendance and overtime policies.
Requirements
  • Availability: Must be willing and able to work 2nd shift, but be flexible to work others as required.
  • Overtime: Must be willing and able to work daily overtime and weekend overtime as needed to support customer needs.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Basic knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience utilizing lean tools.
  • Technical Competency: Candidate must have technical competency and be mechanically inclined (i.e. basic understanding of how production equipment functions).
  • Computer Skills: Must have computer skills to include MS Office programs.
  • Reading and Interpretation: Must have the ability to read and interpret technical documents; may include blueprints, processes, and quality documentation.
  • Leadership Skills: Must have leadership skills; a strong work ethic; good decision-making skills; and good listening skills.
  • Team Player: Must have the ability to be a proactive, energetic leader and be a team player.
  • Professionalism: Must have the ability to deal with people in a professional and ethical manner. This includes work assignments, constructive and consistent application of disciplinary policies, training people in the department, generating and maintaining a team concept to meet Dana's goals and objectives.
Education and Experience
  • Education: A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; however, Associate Degree's or higher in technical fields are highly preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of previous supervisory experience or equivalent manufacturing experience in a lead role.
