We are seeking a highly skilled Industrial Hygiene Specialist to join our team at Northwell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing programs, policies, and procedures to recognize, measure, evaluate, and control industrial health hazards.
Key Responsibilities- Interpret regulatory requirements and monitor emerging hazards in healthcare and biomedical research
- Oversee the preparation, maintenance, and updating of practice-specific policy and procedure manuals
- Perform assessments to characterize employee exposures to hazardous agents and document findings in accordance with industrial hygiene program guidelines
- Work with internal stakeholders to provide technical guidance on the identification, assessment, and control of workplace hazards and compliance with applicable codes and regulations
- Determine appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies and provide interpretation of sampling results
- Develop and implement engineering controls, work practices, and corrective actions to mitigate and eliminate hazards
- Develop training curriculum and implement occupational safety and health training for diverse audiences within the organization
- Provide oversight of accident and incident investigations and implementation of corrective action plans
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide technical guidance on workplace hazards and controls, and hazard reduction strategies
- Participate in research studies and development of techniques to measure and evaluate novel workplace hazards
- Bachelor's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Current Industrial Hygienist Certification required, plus specialized certifications as needed
- 1-3 years of relevant experience required
