Job Overview

Vanderlande Industries Inc is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Specialist to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with disabilities and making a positive impact in their lives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality and keep accurate records of students with disabilities, ensuring timely dissemination of information to relevant personnel.
  • Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus duty, playground, and community activities, promoting a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Support teachers in maintaining confidential folders, transferring records as required, and developing skills through instructional activities under teacher direction.
  • Work closely with special needs students to address individual tasks, such as transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, positioning, feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
  • Develop and implement strategies to manage student behavior and respond to crisis situations, prioritizing the well-being and safety of all students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to learn and adapt to each student's unique medical, physical, communicative, emotional, and safety needs, ensuring comprehensive support.
  • Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, staying up-to-date on best practices and policies.

Requirements

  • Educational Aide I Paraprofessional Certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities, following verbal and written instructions, and demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Experience working with children/students, parents, or persons with disabilities.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling.
  • Possible exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, and communicable diseases.
  • Irregular hours may be required.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $45,000-$55,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive compensation package that reflects the importance of this role in supporting the success of our students.
