We are seeking a highly skilled Paper Machine Technical Expert to join our team at Cascades. As a key member of our Pulp and Paper Technical Expert team, you will play a critical role in supporting our various mills in terms of pulp and paper expertise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate and Knowledge Share: Promote a collaborative approach and knowledge transfer to support the Group's various mills in terms of pulp and paper expertise.
  • Manufacturing Support: Engage manufacturing professionals through significant contribution to their development and local expertise to ensure their autonomy.
  • Troubleshooting and Coaching: Coach local teams with equipment issues (troubleshooting) to ensure their continuous learning.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Contribute root cause analysis and corrective action recommendation when inefficiencies are identified, and failures are experienced.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze the monthly and quarterly corrective actions and major losses to assist plants in prioritizing action plans to reduce and eliminate technical obstacles.
  • Project Management: Collaborate with plant leaders to establish and prioritize projects and/or mandates for the group's paper machines.
  • Engineering and Development: Provide expertise in engineering and/or investment and/or development projects, in which you will be called upon to make recommendations.
  • Technology and Product Development: Introduce new technologies and/or products into the plants and collaborate on product development or substitution.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities for improvement, operational gains, untapped opportunities concerning paper machines and related processes.
  • Resource Management: Ensure that resources (chemicals, production supplies, etc.) are used correctly as a whole.
  • Market and Competitor Analysis: Develop and maintain expert knowledge of respective supply markets, competitors, and product innovations; understand competition to identify threats/opportunities.
Requirements
  • Relevant Experience: 10 years' cumulative experience relevant to the position and area of expertise.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical or chemical) or equivalent experience.
  • Travel and Authorization: Willingness to travel (between 50% and 75% of the time) and legal authorization to travel to multiple sites.
  • Technical Skills: Experience reading and interpreting piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID's), layout drawings, and mechanical drawings.
