This role involves performing a variety of paralegal and administrative duties for Guardian ad Litem Office Attorneys. The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting attorneys with legal tasks, maintaining case files, and establishing working relationships with State Courts Systems personnel and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Cite check, proofread, and finalize legal briefs under supervision.
- Maintain case files, court calendars, and litigation timetables.
- Prepare case summaries, pleadings, orders, and summons under attorney supervision.
- Draft and file pleadings and motions for attorneys.
- Gather and analyze research data.
The ideal candidate should have completion of a training program to become a legal assistant or paralegal, or a degree or certificate in legal technology, legal administration, or allied legal services. Knowledge of legal citation, Bluebook, legal terminology, law and legal procedure, grammar, spelling, and writing mechanics is essential. Ability to perform legal writing, research documents, comprehend and interpret information, maintain files, plan and coordinate work assignments, communicate effectively, and establish and maintain effective working relationships is required.
