Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth analysis and reverse-engineering of electronic circuit boards related to IEDs, focusing on device characterization.
  • Identify, capture, and analyze electronic devices and components from IED circuit boards, emphasizing arming, firing, and source characteristics.
  • Characterize and identify RF receiver and transmitter modules, including circuit board specifications, operating frequencies, and power metrics.
  • Research and specify component nomenclatures, reverse-engineering devices as necessary.
  • Analyze electronic components, including switching circuits and power sources, for investigative purposes.
  • Visually identify IED components, conduct research, and develop accurate schematics of devices.
  • Utilize standardized tools and techniques to analyze, demodulate, and decode signals, extracting valuable intelligence data.
  • Employ laboratory measuring equipment, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators to exploit devices and materials effectively.
  • Perform Electronic Data Recovery (EDR) on various media storage devices, utilizing forensic tools to recover potentially significant data.
  • Document all findings in required formats, including component lists, circuit layouts, and mechanical drawings.
  • Characterize devices in WEAT for documentation and comparative analysis against other IEDs and components.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical and scientific reports detailing exploitation and analysis outcomes.
  • Report critical findings to military and DoD civilian leadership.
  • Support the development of countermeasures for electronic devices and signals.
  • Provide insights for profiling and signature analysis.
  • Create storyboards and technical reports based on captured data.
  • Maintain and document the chain of custody for items and data.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a radio frequency (RF) testing environment, focusing on characterizing electronic components for intelligence reporting.
  • Five (5) years of experience conducting benchtop RF measurements using various equipment.
  • Experience in testing and characterizing electrical components of IEDs and/or Software Defined Radios (SDR).
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures for the handling and transport of samples and components.
  • Proven ability to produce comprehensive technical reports and develop device profiles.
  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Top-Secret security clearance is required.
  • Ability to obtain a US Passport.
  • Must successfully complete a medical assessment as per client requirements.
