Job Summary:

A Clinical Allergy Specialist Floater plays a vital role in the United Allergy Services team, providing clinical and administrative support in a medical provider's office. Working under the supervision of a physician, this role involves managing the day-to-day operations of the allergy center, administering allergy tests, educating patients on allergen immunotherapy, and providing patient-centered care to those suffering from allergies in the communities served by United Allergy.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of allergens, the allergic response, and UAS clinical protocols.
  2. Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and staff to provide exceptional patient care and ensure seamless clinic operations.
  3. Administer safe and effective immunotherapy processes, including allergy testing and the formulation and preparation of allergy immunotherapy.
  4. Provide family-centered patient care that is developmentally and age appropriate, compassionate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health.
  5. Educate patients on administering injections with immunotherapy and ensure timely follow-up and progress monitoring.
  6. Complete all necessary paperwork and verify insurance eligibility for each patient prior to testing and immunotherapy.
  7. Manage patient scheduling, either in-person, via phone, or through UAS centralized scheduling protocols.
  8. Handle and submit billing documentation to the appropriate office via applicable EMR systems or otherwise.
  9. Maintain and secure clinic inventory levels, ensuring timely ordering and receipt of supplies.
  10. Monitor and maintain equipment, including refrigeration units, to ensure optimal performance.
  11. Develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with providers and medical office staff.
  12. Escalate patient or other questions to the appropriate team member or provider in a timely manner.
  13. Administer allergy clinic testing and immunotherapy in a thorough and compliant manner, ensuring quality and adherence to standards.
  14. Ensure all required processes and procedures are followed for the allergy center.
  15. Oversee and manage inventory for clinic supplies, safety, and compliance activities.
  16. Meet strategic goals and objectives for the clinic and company, focusing on assigned clinic productivity and revenue.
Requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in health sciences or business is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of equivalent work experience in a healthcare, hospital, customer service, retail, or similar industry.
  • Nursing or other medical technician certification(s) as required by state or local area regulations for the clinic area.
  • Experience communicating with individuals at all levels in a professional or clinical environment and experience communicating with clients or patients.
  • Ability to physically perform the essential functions of the role, including manual dexterity to operate office equipment, perform allergy tests, and administer immunotherapy.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, remain organized, and focused on tasks, patient needs, and allergy clinic operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure suitable and complete results.
  • Ability to travel periodically within the local clinical area and occasionally overnight to other clinic or business locations when needed.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and interpret English accurately and clearly communicate at all levels and on a wide range of topics.
  • Experience using MS Word applications, typing, and using a computer system, navigating multiple software applications, including UAS applications and EMR or client applications.
