Job Overview

At RESPEC Inc., we are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our team in Anchorage, AK. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing structures that can withstand the harsh Alaskan environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze structures using advanced computer programs to ensure they meet safety and regulatory standards
  • Develop and review structural plans, specifications, and construction observations to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Lead structural and multi-discipline projects, collaborating with architects and other engineers to deliver high-quality results
  • Review and interpret architectural drawings to ensure structural integrity and compatibility
  • Participate in design progress meetings to ensure projects are on track and meet client expectations
  • Assist with project proposals and bid development to secure new business
  • Observe on-site structural construction to ensure projects are executed according to plan

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural coursework
  • Professional Engineer registration and 5-10 years of experience in structural engineering
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Mathcad, with experience in RISA, STAAD, SAP, or similar structural analysis software
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to detail and organizational abilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus on structural coursework
  • Structural Engineer registration and experience with Revit
  • Project Management experience and/or Designer of Record certification
  • Interest in ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with industry advancements
