Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Kindergarten Teacher to join our team at OpenSky. As a key member of our educational community, you will be responsible for creating a positive and structured learning environment that fosters academic excellence and character growth in our scholars.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement daily instruction plans that align with our long-range educational goals and objectives.
  • Employ a variety of creative and research-based instructional strategies to engage scholars in meaningful and rigorous learning experiences.
  • Conduct regular assessments and track scholar progress to inform instruction and identify areas for improvement.
  • Participate in faculty and staff meetings, professional development, and events to stay current on best practices and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Teach, lead, or assist with educational or extracurricular activities outside of regular school hours.
  • Assist with scholar recruitment efforts and serve as a biblical role model and representative of OpenSky.

  • Build rapport with scholars, parents, and families to foster a sense of community and support.

Resource Management
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including attendance, behavior, student achievement data, grades, progress reports, and parent communication.
Forming Character
  • Apply classroom management techniques and appropriate scholar corrections and disciplinary actions to promote a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Assume responsibility for scholar success by holding all scholars accountable to school-wide behavioral expectations.
  • Recognize, celebrate, and reward scholar achievement and character development.
Academic Excellence
  • Establish a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment that promotes academic excellence and character growth.
  • Set measurable, ambitious, and attainable goals for the year and each interim assessment cycle.
  • Evaluate individual scholar academic progress through regular and varied assessments.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Strong instructional and classroom management skills.
  • Valid Wisconsin teaching credential or willingness to attain one.
  • Minimum of 12 educational teaching credits required after 3 years.
  • At least 1-3 years of teaching experience, urban experience a plus.
  • Experience working with students and families in low-income urban communities.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Experience with school teaching platforms and technology for virtual learning.
  • Proven track record of student achievement results.
