Position Overview:

The Federal Inspection Services (FIS) Agent plays a crucial role in assisting international travelers with their luggage and providing essential guidance and translation as they navigate customs.

Compensation:

$18.00 per hour

  • Part-Time Opportunities Available
  • This role demands physical stamina, including the ability to bend, stoop, and lift luggage weighing up to 75 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
  • Availability to work weekends is required.
  • Shifts typically commence in the afternoon, between 2 PM and 4 PM, and are generally 4 hours long; candidates must be prepared to start as early as 2 PM.
  • No prior experience is necessary - Paid Training will be provided.


This position requires on-the-job security training and the ability to obtain all necessary airport security badges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver exceptional customer service and demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Facilitate the safe, secure, and efficient transit of international passengers through the FIS.
  • Assist passengers in completing required documentation.
  • Guide passengers in utilizing Automated Passport Control (APC) kiosks.
  • Comprehend APC eligibility and operational procedures.
  • Manage line queuing and direct passengers to available federal officers or APC kiosks for processing.
  • Address general inquiries regarding passenger arrival processing.
  • Engage professionally with passengers, airline representatives, and federal officers, directing them as necessary.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the FIS area, including stanchion placement and restocking necessary forms.
  • Perform additional customer service tasks as requested by the AAR throughout the airport.
  • Monitor the arrival of international flights, accurately documenting arrival and departure times, as well as passenger hold and release times.
  • Coordinate baggage carousel assignments for ground handlers to ensure proper placement and alignment, preventing baggage jams.
  • Safely manage baggage on the carousel to accommodate additional luggage.
  • Assist passengers with baggage placement on recheck belts and explain the luggage reclaim process.
  • Efficiently resolve any baggage jams that may occur on recheck belts.
  • Support passengers with special needs by providing escort services.
  • Retrieve baggage carts from customers and ensure they are returned for use by other arriving passengers.
  • Answer general questions and interact courteously with passengers, airline representatives, and federal agency employees.
  • Ensure the checkpoint area is clean and presentable.
Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to secure required badging and customs seal, passing background and drug screenings.
  • Adhere to company appearance standards.
  • Availability to work various shifts and comply with the company attendance policy.
  • Capable of ensuring the safe, secure, and efficient transit of international passengers and luggage.
  • Able to observe international flight arrivals and document pertinent information accurately.
  • Physically able to lift and manage baggage weighing over 70 pounds safely.
  • Competent in clearing baggage jams on recheck belts.
  • Assist passengers with special needs effectively.
  • Engage professionally with passengers and staff.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkpoint area.
Appearance Standards:

Employees are expected to maintain a professional image at all times, even in non-public areas. Dress, grooming, and personal hygiene should align with the company's business standards.

For male employees, well-groomed facial hair is permitted, while visible tattoos and body piercings must be covered.

Clean and well-maintained uniforms are mandatory during shifts.
