Patient Advocate Job Summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Patient Advocate to join our team. As a Patient Advocate, you will play a critical role in connecting uninsured hospital patients with programs that cover their medical expenses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Screen uninsured hospital patients to determine eligibility for federal, state, and county medical or disability assistance
  • Complete applications and follow through until approved
  • Document cases accurately and timely in company programs and hospital systems
  • Provide exceptional customer service skills at all times
  • Participate in ongoing trainings to apply content learned in dealings with patients and cases
  • Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts
  • Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, make outbound calls, and track paperwork for Medicaid patients
  • Maintain structured and timely contact with applicants and government agencies
  • Assist applicants with gathering reports or records, meeting appointment dates, and arranging transportation
  • Request home visits as needed to acquire documentation
  • Inform clients of approvals and denials of coverage in a timely manner
  • Participate in additional training requirements to stay up-to-date on changing rules and regulations
Requirements:
  • Some college coursework preferred
  • Prior hospital experience preferred
  • Adaptability when dealing with changing processes, computer systems, and government programs
  • Professional experience working with state and federal programs
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the hospital and patients' rooms
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to multitask and function in a fast-paced environment
