Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Director for our substance abuse treatment program at OneSource of Virginia.

Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.

About the Role

The Medical Director will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of nurse staff and providing medical direction to other clinical staff. This includes evaluating and managing non-acute illnesses and withdrawal symptoms in patients, as well as assisting with the development and evaluation of medical policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in admission decisions, including screening and assessment of new patients, conduct physical exams upon admission, and assist with overall mental and medical stability of patients with addictions.
  • Interact with the management team, direct care staff, and others to assist with development, approval, and evaluation of medical, healthcare, and operational policies and procedures.
  • Direct care and treatment as the primary medical service provider for non-emergent patient issues.
  • Write medical orders and standards of practice for clinical activities.
  • Supervise additional clinic staff as needed.
  • Work closely with the Director of Services and Clinical Director to assure the efficient operation of medical and clinical activities.
  • Assist organization staff in the investigation of communicable diseases in facilities.
  • Develop relationships with hospitals and clinics within and outside the organization that provide healthcare to patients, MAT, urgent care, and triage.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A valid license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Virginia.
  • Meet all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the organization's liability insurance carrier.
  • A valid driver's license and pass a background check with a record that is free from a criminal record that would prohibit employment by the organization.
  • Knowledge of medical science and its application to healthcare practice, principles and practice of healthcare administration, and laws governing health practice.
  • Knowledge of current communicable diseases, addiction disorders, medical and mental health disorders, their symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as epidemiology and disease surveillance systems.
