This role is integral to the administrative team, ensuring the seamless operation of the healthcare practice. The Patient Service Specialist I is responsible for managing front-end tasks and delivering exceptional service to patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Communication Management:**
- Answer incoming calls and direct them appropriately, ensuring messages are relayed to the correct personnel.
- Provide general information to callers while adhering to protocols regarding medical advice.
2. **Patient Interaction:**
- Deliver outstanding customer service to both new and existing patients.
- Create patient records and document all communications in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
3. **Appointment Coordination:**
- Schedule patient appointments and necessary tests as requested.
- Verify patient information, including demographics and insurance details, during registration.
4. **Insurance Management:**
- Conduct eligibility checks to confirm accurate insurance coverage.
- Collect co-pays and any outstanding balances from patients.
5. **Operational Support:**
- Prepare for upcoming appointments by ensuring all necessary information is available.
- Assist in obtaining prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
6. **Administrative Duties:**
- Monitor and manage administrative supplies, assisting with orders when necessary.
- Follow up on missing documentation and assist in claims processing.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- One to three years of experience in a medical administrative role preferred.
