Job Summary

Corewell Health is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the hospital's mission to provide exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply scientific knowledge and therapy to practical clinical problems of respiratory care.
  • Perform a wide range of procedures related to the care of patients with general and specialized respiratory-related needs of various age groups.
  • Evaluate patients to determine respiratory care needs and make appropriate recommendations and changes in accordance with policy and protocol guidelines.
  • Assess the effectiveness of treatment and accurately document according to department and legal/regulatory standards.
  • Perform point of care testing as required.
  • Complete and document required education and competencies within designated timeframe.
  • Maintain competency in areas of accountability.
  • Accurately and timely complete all necessary documentation and billing.
  • Facilitate a smooth transition for the patient to appropriate referral services or the next point of service.
  • Provide education to patients and families as it relates to respiratory issues.
  • Instruct and train other respiratory care staff, nursing and other medical personnel and students regarding patient needs and respiratory care services.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy.
  • 2 years of relevant experience in pulmonary rehabilitation, respiratory care, sleep medicine or equivalent clinical education.
  • CRT-Respiratory Therapist Registry - NBRC National Board for Respiratory Care.
  • CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association.
  • LIC-Respiratory Therapist - STATE_MI State of Michigan.
  • CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association.
