Job Summary

A Communication Specialist is responsible for maintaining PacifiCorp's communication systems, including voice and data communication systems, telephone systems, microwave radio systems, land mobile radio systems, SCADA systems, power line carrier equipment, chart recorders, telemetry, fiber optics/lightwave, and associated switching or termination equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electronics and experience with FCC general radio telephone licenses. The role requires excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, test, and certify communication equipment
  • Maintain and repair communication systems
  • Direct the work of Assistant Communications Technicians
  • Ensure vehicles, tools, and materials are properly maintained and utilized

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • FCC general radio telephone license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • 3+ years of experience as a Communication Technician
  • Good driving record
  • Pass a written and practical test

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two-year college or technical degree in electronics
  • 5+ years of experience as a Communication Technician in the utility industry
