Armed Security Officer Job Description

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Armed Security Officer to join our team. As an Armed Security Officer, you will be responsible for providing security services to patients, associates, and visitors, while maintaining a safe and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular security patrols of facilities and grounds to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Identify and report security trends and recommend actions to prevent incidents.
  • Take initial information for incident reports and submit in a timely manner.
  • Respond to service requests and assist with lost and found items, patient valuables, and medication.
  • Enforce rules, regulations, and policies of CHRISTUS Health and local laws.
  • Control and enforce facility parking through patrols and citations.
  • Assist clinical and non-clinical associates with combative patients or visitors.
  • Promote a safe environment by reporting safety hazards.
  • Adapt client assessment and care methods to accommodate physical, cultural, and age-specific needs.
  • Demonstrate adherence to CHRISTUS Health's CORE values.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to interact with staff, patients, and visitors, especially in difficult situations.
  • Mental alertness at all times.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to make immediate decisions regarding laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Valid motor vehicle license required.
  • Demonstrated competence with handgun, handcuffs, baton, and two-way radios.
  • Frequent exposure to aggressive behavior and emotionally charged situations.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous conditions.
  • Long periods of walking, standing, stooping, and lifting.
  • Physical fitness required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prefer minimum two years of armed security experience or honorable military service.
  • Law enforcement experience preferred.
  • Previous healthcare security experience preferred.
